Cornelius6 Pratt, son of Jonathan5 and (656) Elisabeth (French) Pratt, of Bridgewater,[2] in ca. 1787.[3] He was born on 3 Feb. 1748 in Bridgewater,[4] a grandson of Joseph4 and Lydia3 (Leonard) Pratt (3rd), and of Ebenezer and (164) Elizabeth (Orcutt) French.[5] They were living in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA, in the 1790,[6] and 1800 federal censuses,[7] but he was not a head of household in Bridgewater in the 1810 or 1820 federal censuses.
Cornelius Pratt died intestate on 21 Sept. 1822 in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., aged 74 years,[8] and administration of his estate was granted to his son, Ebenezer Pratt, on 7 Jan. 1823, with Jonathan Pratt and Lot Whitmarsh as sureties.[9] Martha (Leonard) Pratt died a widow on 9 Jan. 1845 in Bridgewater, aged 85 years,[10] and they were both buried in the Old Graveyard (now First Cemetery) in Bridgewater, MA.

4502 i Jonathan7 Pratt, born ca. 1789 in MA,[12] married Deborah Hathaway, supposedly daughter of Ebenezer and Chloe (Hooper) Hathaway, of Halifax and East Bridgewater,[13] on 27 Apr. 1817 in Bridgewater.[14] She was born ca. 1791,[15] and died on 8 Oct. 1819 in Halifax, MA, aged 27 years.[16] He “hung himself” on 16 Feb. 1825 in Halifax, aged 35 years,[17] and they were both buried in Tomson Cemetery in Halifax, Plymouth Co., MA. They had one son who died in infancy:
a. Jonathan Pratt (Jr.), born on 30 Mar. 1818,[18] died on 15 July 1819, aged 1 year, 3 months, 19 days,[19] and was buried in Tomson Cemetery in Halifax, MA.

Leonard7 Pratt, born on 6 Aug. 1791 in Bridgewater, MA,[20] married Clarissa6 Leonard, daughter of (1077) Dr. Sylvanus5 and Eunice5 (Kinsley) Leonard,[21] on 3 Dec. 1818 in Bridgewater.[22] She was born ca. 1797 in Bridgewater, MA,[23] a granddaughter of (380) Samuel4 and Lydia (Besse) Leonard, and of (587) Samuel4 and Sophia (White) Kinsley (4th), all of Bridgewater,[24] and they moved to Maine.[25] They were possibly living in Township No. 6, Oxford Co., ME, in the 1820 federal census, where he was a farmer,[26] in Berlin, Oxford Co., ME, in the 1830 federal census,[27] but they were back living in Bridgewater, MA, by 1850. They were living in Bridgewater in the 1850 federal census,[28] the 1855 state census,[29] where he was a farmer, the 1860 federal census, where he was a clergyman,[30] and the 1865 state census, where he was again a farmer.[31] She died on 22 June 1868 in Bridgewater, aged 70 years, 10 months, 29 days, of “heart disease,”[32] and he was a farmer living in Bridgewater in the 1870 federal census,[33] but his occupation was listed as a clergyman when died a widower, intestate, on 6 Nov. 1770 in Bridgewater, aged 79 years, of “paralysis,”[34] and they were both buried in Hillside Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA. His son, Silas Pratt, of Halifax, was granted administration of his estate on 12 Nov. 1877, with Nathan Fuller and Seth C. Cushing, both of Halifax, as sureties.[35] They had children, some of whose births may have been in Maine, but were all recorded in Bridgewater.
a. Deborah8 H. Pratt, born on 10 Feb. 1820 in Bridgewater,[36] died on 15 May 1844 in Bridgewater, aged 24 years, of “consumption,”[37] and was buried in Hillside Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA.
b. Martin8 L. Pratt, born on 10 Sept. 1821 in Bridgewater,[38] died on 13 Jan. 1844 in Bridgewater, aged 22 years, 4 months, 3 days,[39] and was buried in Hillside Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA.
c. Leonard Pratt (Jr.), born on 30 July 1824 in Bridgewater,[40] died on 10 Dec. 1843 in Bridgewater, aged 19 years, 4 months, 10 days, of “white swelling,”[41] and was buried in Hillside Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA.
d. Clarissa8 Pratt, born on 19 June 1826 in Bridgewater,[42] married 1.) Thomas9 Bartlett Bradford, son of Thomas8 and Lydia7 (Cook) Bradford,[43] on 31 Oct. 1852 in Bridgewater.[44] He was born on 12 Sept. 1823 in Kingston, MA,[45] a grandson of Amos6 and Eunice5 (Eaton) Cook, of Kingston,[46] and a great-grandson of Caleb5 and Sarah (Adams) Cooke (Jr.),[47] and of David4 and Deborah (Fuller) Eaton,[48] both of Kingston. He died intestate on 23 Apr. 1855 in Kingston, MA, aged 31 years, 7 months, 11 days, of “division of kidney by accident,”[49] and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston, Plymouth Co., MA. George T. Adams, of Kingston, was granted administration of his estate on 21 May 1855, as requested by the widow of the deceased, with Frederick C. Adams and George Adams, both of Kingston, as sureties,[50] and the inventory of his estate was appraised by Alden S. Bradford, Thomas Bradford and Martin Cook, not dated, but his real estate was valued at $1490, including a dwelling house and one half acre of land valued at $1300, and his personal estate totaled $351.18. George T. Adams, the administrator, gave his oath to the inventory on 2 July 1855, and the widow Clarissa Bradford, was allowed $106.18 from the personal estate for her necessaries.[51] She was living in Kingston, MA, in the 1855,[52] and 1865 state censuses,[53] and with her widowed father, Leonard Pratt, in Bridgewater, MA, in the 1870 federal census.[54] She remarried to 2.) Henry A. Dean, of Lakeville, MA, son of Allen and Sibyl (Perry) Dean,[55] as his third wife, on 23 Apr. 1871 in Bridgewater, MA.[56] He was born in 1818 in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA,[57] and had married first to Betsey (___), who died in 1840,[58] and secondly to Julia Haskins, who died on 27 Apr. 1869 in Lakeville, MA, aged 48 years, of “consumption,”[59] and they were both buried in Thompson Hill Cemetery in Lakeville, Plymouth Co., MA. They were living in Groton, Middlesex Co., MA, in the 1880 federal census, where he was working in a leather bond mill.[60] Henry A. Dean died on 14 June 1898 in West Groton, Middlesex Co., MA, aged 81 years, 7 months, 14 days, of “cerebral apoplexy & old age,”[61] and was buried with his first two wives in Thompson Hill Cemetery in Lakeville, MA. Clarissa (Pratt) (Bradford) Dean died a widow on 25 Mar. 1899 in West Groton, MA, aged 72 years, 9 months, 6 days, of “cerebral hemorrhage,”[62] and was buried with her first husband in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston, MA.
e. Sylvanus8 Pratt, born on 23 Aug. 1828 in Bridgewater,[63] married Jane Frances Fuller, daughter of Alfred and Mary P. (Mitchell) Fuller, of Halifax, MA,[64] on 3 May 1857 in Halifax.[65] She was born in 1840 in Halifax.[66] They were living in Halifax, MA, in the 1860 federal census,[67] and in Bridgewater in the house of Martin Leonard,[68] where he was a shoemaker. He died on 6 Dec. 1866 in Bridgewater, aged 38 years, 3 months, of “diptheria.”[69] She remarried to her husband’s first cousin, Darius8 Cushman, son of Thomas7 and (4507) Lucy7 (Pratt) Cushman (3rd), of Bridgewater,[70] as his second wife, on 10 May 1868 in Halifax.[71] He was born on 21 July 1830 in Bridgewater,[72] a grandson of Capt. Thomas6 and Bethiah (Thomson) Cushman (Jr.), and of Cornelius6 and (1757) Martha6 (Leonard) Pratt, and had married first to Elvina Thompson, daughter of Lewis and Huldah (Wood) Thompson,[73] who died on 2 Jan. 1867 in Bridgewater, aged 36 years, 2 months, 19 days, of “consumption.”[74] They were living in Bridgewater, MA, in the 1870 federal census,[75] and in Brockton, Plymouth Co., MA, in the 1880 federal census,[76] where he was a shoe dealer. He died on 12 Sept. 1897 in Bridgewater, aged 67 years, 1 month, 22 days, of “paralysis,”[77] and she died a widow on 30 Apr. 1910 in Sharon, Norfolk Co., MA, aged 70 years, 4 months, 1 day, of bronchial pneumonia.[78]
f. Silas8 Pratt, born on 21 Sept. 1831 in Bridgewater,[79] was still unmarried and living with his parents in Bridgewater in the 1860 federal census, a shoemaker,[80] married 1.) Emily French Fuller, daughter of Nathan and Sarah S. (Fuller) Fuller (Jr.), of Halifax,[81] on 25 Nov. 1865 in Halifax, MA.[82] She was born on 21 Dec. 1843 in Halifax.[83] She died on 14 May 1870 in Bridgewater, aged 26 years, 5 months, 8 days, of “consumption,”[84] but her burial location is unknown. He was working in a shoe factory and living with his widowed father in Bridgewater in the 1870 federal census,[85] and he remarried to her sister, 2.) Levesta Newton Fuller, daughter of Nathan and Sarah S. (Fuller) Fuller,[86] on 6 Nov. 1873 in Halifax.[87] She was born ca. 1846 in Halifax.[88] He was administrator of his father’s estate in 1877. They were living with her parents in Halifax, MA, in the 1880 federal census, where he was working in a shoe factory.[89] He died on 24 Feb. 1910 in Middleborough, MA, aged 78 years, 8 months, 3 days, of “tumor of bladder,”[90] and was buried in Titicut Parish Cemetery in Middleborough, MA. Levesta Newton (Fuller) Pratt died a widow on 20 July 1914 in Middleborough, MA, aged 68 years, 4 months, 12 days, of “disease of heart, mitral stenosis.”[91]
g. Joseph8 Augustine Pratt, born in 1835 in Bridgewater,[92] was still unmarried and living with his parents in Bridgewater in the 1860 federal census,[93] and the 1865 state census,[94] a shoemaker, and he was a shoe manufacturer living in Brooklyn, NY, when he married Mary Henrietta Thayer, daughter of Charles E. and Nancy (Homan) Thayer,[95] on 4 Jan. 1877 in Wakefield, Middlesex Co., MA.[96] She was born on 20 Dec. 1840 in Boston, MA.[97] They were living in Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY, in the 1880 federal census, where he was a boot and shoe manufacturer.[98] He died in 1899,[99] and she died a widow on 23 May 1920 in Wakefield, MA, aged 79 years, 6 months, 3 days, of “organic disease of the heart, valvular,”[100] and they were both buried in Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, Middlesex Co., MA.
h. Mary8 Kingsley Pratt, born on 18 Apr. 1839 in Bridgewater,[101] never married. She was still unmarried and living with her parents in Bridgewater in the 1865 state census,[102] and with her widowed father in Bridgewater in the 1870 federal census,[103] but she was not found in the 1880 federal census. She died on 15 June 1915 in Lakeville, MA, aged 76 years, 1 month, 28 days, of “apoplexy,”[104] and was buried in Hillside Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA.
4504 iii Martha7 Pratt, born say ca. 1793 in Bridgewater, married Jabez Vaughan, son of Ebenezer and Lucy (Pratt) Vaughan, of Middleborough,[105] on 14 Apr. 1817 in Bridgewater.[106] He was born on 4 Jan. 1787 in Middleborough.[107] She probably died by 1841, but no death or burial record was found for her, and he remarried to Joanna B. Willis, of Middleborough, daughter of Ebenezer and Joanna (Atwood) Willis,[108] in 1841.[109] She was born on ca. 29 Oct. 1800 in Bridgewater, MA.[110] They were living in Middleborough, MA, in the 1850 federal census,[111] the 1855 state census,[112] the 1860 federal census,[113] and the 1865 state census,[114] where he was a farmer or farm laborer. She died on 20 July 1865 in Middleborough, aged 64 years, 8 months, 21 days, of “dysentery,”[115] and he was a retired farmer living with Calvin and Sarah P. Sturtevant in Halifax, MA, in the 1870 federal census.[116] He died a widower on 31 May 1873 in Middleborough, aged 86 years, 5 months, of “old age,”[117] and they were both buried in Nemasket Hill Cemetery in Middleborough, MA, but no probate records were filed for his estate. Martha (Pratt) Vaughan had at least two sons:
a. Cornelius Pratt Vaughan, born on 19 Nov. 1822 in Bridgewater, MA,[118] married Elsa B. Britton, daughter of Zephaniah Leach and Elsa (Barnes) Britton,[119] on 31 Mar. 1847 in Halifax.[120] She was born ca. 1826 in Halifax, MA,[121] a granddaughter of Zachariah and Bethiah (Drake) Britton (Jr.), of Easton, MA.[122] They were living in Halifax, MA, in the 1850 federal census,[123] the 1855 state census,[124] the 1860 federal census,[125] and the 1865 state census,[126] where he was a shoemaker. He died on 9 Mar. 1866 in Halifax, aged 45 years, 3 months, 19 days, of “typhoid fever.”[127] She was still living in Halifax in the 1870 federal census,[128] and she was living with her son Edwin Vaughan in Halifax in the 1880 federal census.[129] She died a widow on 26 Apr. 1906 in Halifax, MA, aged 80 years, 8 months, 15 days, of “heart disease,”[130] but their burial location is unknown.
b. Hiram Vaughan, born on 9 Apr. 1826 in Halifax, MA,[131] possibly died young, not found in the 1850 federal census or the 1855 state census in Massachusetts.
4505 iv Cornelius7 Pratt (Jr.), born in 1795 in Bridgewater,[132] married Lucina6 Thomson, daughter of Jacob5 and Lucina (Keith) Thomson (3rd), of Halifax,[133] on 26 Mar. 1823 in Halifax.[134] She was born on 22 Dec. 1798 in Halifax,[135] a granddaughter of Jacob4 and Waitstill (Miller) Tomson (Jr.), of Halifax.[136] Cornelius Pratt (Jr.) died intestate on 30 May 1836 in Halifax, aged 41 years,[137] and was buried in Tomson Cemetery in Halifax, MA. Bradford Harlow, of Middleborough, petitioned for administration of the estate of Cornelius Pratt, late of Halifax, on 5 July 1836, with Thomas Cushman, of Bridgewater, and Ephraim Ward, of Middleborough, as his sureties.[138] Lucina Pratt was living with her son, Otis Pratt, in Halifax in the 1850 federal census,[139] and she was probably the Mrs. Lucina Pratt who married Seth Benenson, of Plymouth, on ca. 3 Dec. 1850 in Halifax.[140] Cornelius and Lucina Pratt (Jr.) had at least two sons:
a. Cornelius Pratt (3rd), born on 8 Feb. 1824,[141] died on 23 Sept. 1825, aged 1 year, 7 months, 17 days,[142] and was buried in Tomson Cemetery in Halifax, MA.
b. Otis8 Pratt, born on ca. 4 Oct. 1826 in Bridgewater,[143] married Emily Wood, daughter of Philander and Martha6 “Patty” (Benson) Wood, of Bridgewater,[144] on 26 Nov. 1850 in Bridgewater.[145] She was born on 17 Nov. 1831 in Bridgewater,[146] a granddaughter of Capt. Simeon and (2425) Lydia7 (Washburn) Wood, and of (1721) Jonah5 and Martha (Tomson) Benson, both of Bridgewater. Daughter Emily Pratt, wife of Otis Pratt, of Halifax, was mentioned in the 1862 will of her father. They were living in Halifax, MA, in the 1855 state census,[147] the 1860 federal census,[148] the 1865 state census,[149] and the 1870,[150] and 1880 federal censuses,[151] where he was a farmer. He died on 31 Dec. 1902 in Halifax, MA, aged 76 years, 2 months, 27 days, of “heart disease,”[152] and she died a widow on 5 Oct. 1904 in Bridgewater, aged 72 years, 10 months, 12 days, of “heart disease,”[153] and they were both buried in Central Cemetery in Halifax, MA.
4506 v Ebenezer7 Pratt, born on 6 Feb. 1797 in Bridgewater,[154] married Olive Soule Wood, daughter of Ebenezer and Cynthia6 (Soule) Wood, of Halifax, MA,[155] on 23 May 1824 in Halifax.[156] She was born on 6 Mar. 1796 in Halifax,[157] a granddaughter of Asaph5 and Mary (Hudson) Soule, of Plympton.[158] They were living in Bridgewater in the 1850 federal census,[159] the 1855 state census,[160] the 1860 federal census,[161] the 1865 state census,[162] and the 1870 federal census,[163] where he was a farmer. He died on 16 May 1880 in Bridgewater, aged 83 years, 3 months, 10 days, of “old age,”[164] but no probate records were filed for his estate. She was widow living with her son, E. Austin Pratt, in the 1880 federal census,[165] and she died on 2 Feb. 1892 in Bridgewater, aged 95 years, 10 months, 26 days, of “influenza fever,”[166] and they were both buried in Central Cemetery in Halifax, Plymouth Co., MA. They had children:
a. Philander8 McKendrick Pratt, born on 3 Feb. 1825 in Bridgewater, MA,[167] married 1.) Sarah8 Leonard, daughter of Simeon7 W. and Betsey7 (Leonard) Leonard,[168] on 9 June 1850 in Bridgewater, MA.[169] She was born in 1829 in MA.[170] They were living with his parents in Bridgewater in the 1850 federal census, where he was a farmer,[171] in East Bridgewater, MA, in the 1855 state census,[172] and the 1860 federal census,[173] where he was a shoe cutter. She died on 9 Nov. 1862 in East Bridgewater, aged 33 years, 7 months, 9 days, of “consumption,”[174] and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in East Bridgewater, MA. He remarried to his first cousin, 2.) Bethiah (Cushman) Spooner, daughter of (2679) Thomas and (4507) Lucy7 (Pratt) Cushman (3rd), and widow of Abraham Spooner, on 6 Apr. 1864 in Bridgewater, MA.[175] She was born on 15 Dec. 1831 in Bridgewater,[176] and had married first to Abraham G. Spooner on 13 Apr. 1854,[177] who was lost at sea in the Sea of Japan in June 1855.[178] They were living in East Bridgewater in the 1865 state census, where he was a shoe cutter,[179] and the 1870 federal census, where he was working in a shoe factory,[180] and in Brockton, Plymouth Co., MA, in the 1880 federal census, where he was working in a shoe factory.[181] Philander M. Pratt died on 14 June 1898 in Brockton, Plymouth Co., MA, aged 73 years, 4 months, 11 days, of “mitral insufficiency of heart,”[182] and Bethiah (Cushman) (Spooner) Pratt died a widow on 18 Dec. 1904 in Wales Home in Brockton, MA, aged 73 years, 3 days, of “apoplexy,”[183] and they were both buried in Elmwood Cemetery in East Bridgewater, MA.
b. Olive8 S. Pratt, born on 22 June 1831 in Bridgewater,[184] married Edwin Thompson, son of Eliab and Lydia (Thomson) Thomson (Jr.),[185] on 25 Apr. 1854 in Bridgewater.[186] He was born in 1829 in Halifax, MA.[187] They were not found in the 1855 state census, but they were living in Abington, Plymouth Co., MA, in the 1860 federal census, where he was a shoe cutter,[188] and in South Abington, MA, in the 1865 state census, where he was a stitcher,[189] but she was also listed as living with her parents in Bridgewater in the 1865 state census.[190] He died on 19 June 1868 in Bridgewater, MA, aged 38 years, 11 months, 26 days, of “consumption,”[191] and she was living in Abington in the 1870 federal census,[192] and in South Abington in the 1880 federal census.[193] She died a widow on 28 Jan. 1916 in Whitman, Plymouth Co., MA, aged 84 years, 7 months, 6 days, of “myocarditis,”[194] and they were both buried in Tomson Cemetery in Halifax, MA.
c. Ebenezer8 Austin Pratt, born on 31 July 1835 in Bridgewater,[195] married Charlotte8 Amelia Soule, daughter of Jacob7 and Lydia6 (Thomson) Soule,[196] on 24 Nov. 1858 in Halifax, MA.[197] She was born on 21 July 1838 in Halifax, MA,[198] a granddaughter of Jacob5 and Lucina (Keith) Thomson (3rd), of Halifax.[199] They were living with his parents in Bridgewater, MA, in the 1860 federal census, where he was a shoemaker,[200] the 1865 state census, where he was a farmer,[201] and the 1870 federal census, where he was working in a shoe factory,[202] and in Bridgewater in the 1880 federal census, where he was again a farmer.[203] She died on 7 Nov. 1914 in Bridgewater, MA, aged 76 years, 3 months, 17 days, of “chronic valvular heart disease,”[204] and he died a widower on 15 Feb. 1919 in West Bridgewater, aged 83 years, 6 months, 15 days, of “cerebral hemorrhage due to arterio sclerosis,”[205] and they were both buried in Mount Prospect Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA.
4507 vi Lucy7 Pratt, born on 20 Apr. 1799 in Bridgewater,[206] married (2679) Thomas7 Cushman (3rd), son of Capt. Thomas6 and (1025) Bethiah5 (Thomson) Cushman (Jr.), of Bridgewater,[207] on 5 Oct. 1823 in Bridgewater.[208] He was born on ca. 2 Nov. 1795 in Bridgewater,[209] an illegitimate grandson of Thomas5 Cushman, of Kingston, by Alice Hayward, of Bridgewater, and a grandson of Thomas and (368) Jane5 (Washburn) Thomson, of Bridgewater.[210] He was a farmer and school teacher in Bridgewater, and was the Representative in the Massachusetts State Legislature from Bridgewater in 1749 and 1850.[211] They were living in Bridgewater in the 1830,[212] 1840,[213] and 1850 federal censuses,[214] the 1855 state census,[215] the 1860 federal census,[216] the 1865 state census,[217] the 1870 federal census,[218] and the 1880 federal census,[219] where he was a farmer. She died on 21 July 1883 in Bridgewater, aged 84 years, 3 months, 1 day, of “consumption,”[220] and he died a widower on 20 Aug. 1889 in Bridgewater, aged 93 years, 9 months, 18 days, of “heart disease.”[221] (See his family for their children.)

Dr. Jonathan Leonard (Jr.) died on 25 Jan. 1849 in Sandwich, MA, aged 86 years, 10 months, 22 days, of “old age,”[233] and she was living next door to her son Jonathan Leonard in Sandwich in the 1850 federal census.[234] She died a widow on 3 Sept. 1854 in Sandwich, aged 84 years, 9 months, of “diarrhea.”[235]

4509 ii Theodore7 Leonard, born on 24 Mar. 1802 in Sandwich,[237] married Elizabeth Babcock, daughter of Samuel Howe and Eliza (Brazer) Babcock,[238] on 25 Sept. 1832 in Boston, MA.[239] She was born on 25 Feb. 1809 in Boston.[240] They were living in Greenfield, Franklin Co., MA, in the 1850 federal census, where he was a manufacturer’s agent,[241] the 1855 state census, where he was a manufacturer,[242] the 1860 federal census, where he was a woolen mill agent,[243] and in the 1865 state census,[244] and the 1870 federal census,[245] where he was a manufacturer. He died on 7 May 1872 in Greenfield, Franklin Co., MA, aged 70 years, 1 month, 13 days, of “fistula,”[246] and she was still living in Greenfield, MA, in the 1880 federal census.[247] She died a widow on 9 Jan. 1892 in Greenfield, MA, aged 82 years, 10 months, 15 days, of “bronchitis,”[248] and they were both buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA. They had at least one daughter:
a. Eliza B. Leonard, born on 19 Aug. 1841 in MA,[249] apparently never married. She was still unmarried and living with her parents in Greenfield, MA, in the 1865 state census,[250] and the 1870 federal census,[251] with her widowed mother in Greenfield in the 1880 federal census, where she was a school teacher,[252] and she was still unmarried and keeping a boarding house in Greenfield in the 1900 federal census.[253] She died on 14 Sept. 1933, aged 92 years,[254] and was buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA.
4510 iii Dr. Jonathan7 Leonard (3rd), born on 7 Jan. 1805 in Sandwich,[255] also a physician, married 1.) Alice Cordelia Babcock, daughter of Samuel Howe and Eliza (Brazer) Babcock, of Boston,[256] on 31 Dec. 1834 in Boston, MA.[257] She was born on 21 Dec. 1812 in Boston.[258] They were living next door to his widowed mother in Sandwich, MA, in the 1850 federal census,[259] and in Sandwich in the 1855 state census,[260] the 1860 federal census,[261] and the 1865 state census,[262] where he was a physician. She died on 6 Dec. 1865 in Sandwich, aged 52 years, 11 months, 15 days,[263] and was buried in Bay View Cemetery in Sandwich, MA. He remarried to 2.) Mary Thayer (Waterman) Jarvis, daughter of Charles Coatesworth Pinckney and Charlotte (Chapouile) Waterman,[264] and widow of John William Jarves,[265] as her second husband, on 30 Mar. 1868 in Sandwich.[266] She was born on 8 Mar. 1837 in Sandwich, MA.[267] They were still living in Sandwich, MA, in the 1870,[268] and 1880 federal censuses.[269] He died on 29 Jan. 1882 in Sandwich, aged 77 years, 22 days, of “ulceration of bowels,”[270] and she was a widow living in Sandwich in the 1900 federal census.[271] She died a widow on 8 Oct. 1900 in Sandwich, MA, aged 63 years, 7 months, of “congestion of lungs and chronic heart disease,”[272] and they were both buried in Bay View Cemetery in Sandwich, MA. He had three children by Alice C. Babcock, and one more son by Mary Thayer Waterman:
a. Samuel Howe Babcock Leonard, born on 22 Apr. 1836 in Sandwich,[273] died unmarried on 4 Oct. 1854 in Boston, MA, aged 18 years, 5 months, of “erysipelas,”[274] and was buried in Bay View Cemetery in Sandwich, MA.
b. Alice8 Cordelia Leonard, born on 15 Mar. 1844 in Sandwich,[275] never married. She was still unmarried and living with her father in Sandwich, MA, in the 1865 state census,[276] and the 1870,[277] and 1880 federal censuses,[278] and with her stepmother, Mary T. Leonard, in Sandwich in the 1900 federal census.[279] She died on 1 Feb. 1915 in Sandwich, MA, aged 70 years, 10 months, 17 days, of “chronic interstitial nephritis, mitral insufficiency,”[280] and was buried in Bay View Cemetery in Sandwich, MA.
c. Charles Theodore Leonard, born on 18 Dec. 1848 in Sandwich,[281] died on 21 May 1851 in Sandwich, aged 2 years, 11 months, of “obstruction,”[282] and was buried in Bay View Cemetery in Sandwich, MA.
d. Jonathan8 Leonard (4th), born on 17 May 1875 in Sandwich,[283] married Melanie Elisabeth “Bessie” Norton,[284] daughter of Col. Charles Ledyard and Electa Melanie (Richards) Norton,[285] on 29 June 1899 in Sandwich.[286] She was born on 13 Nov. 1868 in New York City, New York Co., NY.[287] They were living in Sandwich, MA, in the 1900 federal census, where he was a school teacher.[288] She died on 22 Dec. 1933 in Sandwich, MA, aged 65 years,[289] and he died on 10 July 1937, aged 62 years,[290] and they were both buried in Bay View Cemetery in Sandwich, MA.
4511 iv George7 Kingman Leonard, born on 15 Sept. 1807 in Sandwich,[291] married Carolina Tetherly Ayers, daughter of Jonathan Warner and Sarah Rodgers (Tetherly) Ayres,[292] on 6 Nov. 1834 in Boston, MA.[293] She was born ca. 1817 in NH.[294] They were not found in the 1850 federal census. He died on 12 May 1850, aged 42 years,[295] and was buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. She remarried to David H. Jacobs, as his second wife, on 20 June 1855 in Boston, MA.[296] He was born ca. 1819 in West Scituate, MA.[297] They were living in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, in the 1855 state census,[298] the 1860 federal census,[299] and the 1865 state census,[300] where he was a mason, the 1870 federal census, where he was a builder,[301] and the 1880 federal census, where he was a brick & stone mason.[302] She died on 12 May 1888 in Boston, MA, aged 71 years, 8 months, of “pneumonia,”[303] and he died a widower on 17 May 1888 in Boston, aged 68 years, 1 month, 12 days, of “heart disease,”[304] but their burial location is unknown. They had children:
a. Francis8 D. Leonard, born on ca. 6 Mar. 1835 in Portsmouth, NH,[305] was a clerk living with his mother and stepfather, David H. and Caroline Jacobs, in Boston in the 1855 state census,[306] but he was not found in the 1860, 1870 or 1880 federal censuses. He died on 14 Aug. 1889 in Andover, Essex Co., MA, aged 54 years, 5 months, 8 days, of “cancer of prostate gland,”[307] but his burial location is unknown.
b. Martha8 A. Leonard, born ca. 1842 in Boston, MA,[308] married William Frederick Pierce, son of Joseph N. and Susannah B. Pierce, of Boston,[309] on 1 June 1864 in Boston.[310] He was born ca. 1838 in Boston.[311] They were living with his parents in Roxbury, Norfolk Co., MA, in the 1865 state census, where he was an artist.[312] They were not found in the 1870 federal census, but they were still living in Boston, MA, in the 1880 federal census, where he was a painter.[313]
4512 v Charles7 Cushing Leonard, born on 22 Feb. 1810 in Sandwich,[314] possibly married Mary E. Kates on 15 June 1837 in Boston, MA.[315] They were not found in the 1850 federal census, the 1855 state census or the 1860 federal census, and no death or burial record was found for him.
